During this month, offensive cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, were projected onto government buildings in France. French President Emmanuel Macron described Islam as a religion “in crisis” worldwide and vowed to present a bill in December to strengthen the law on religious expression in France.
Let’s not forget, Muslims are the primary victims of terrorist attacks globally. Macron’s statement insults 2 billion Muslims and their beliefs for the abhorrent crimes of a small number of outcast extremists, which is an opportunistic abuse of freedom of speech and only fuels Islamophobia further. We completely condemn his divisive and offensive remarks.
